In Pune, a group of medical students from Tilak Ayurved Mahavidyalaya, driven by the altruistic ethos of “Man Mai rahe ye bhav Seva hi Bane Swabhav,” united to establish a volunteer organisation of young doctors on September 17, 2016, coinciding with Marathwada Mukti Sangram Din. They named this group Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh after performing ceremonial worship of Lord Dhanvantari and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. This organisation dedicates itself to voluntary medical service, engaging a network of medical students and doctors known for their various social service initiatives.
Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh celebrates numerous cultural and social events, including Shiv Jayanti, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti, Ganesh Utsav, Makar Sankranti, Gudi Padwa, and Raksha Bandhan. It also organises significant essay and speech competitions during notable personalities’ birth anniversaries, such as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, and A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, to foster a positive youth culture. Moreover, the Sangh provides Varkari Maulis with complimentary medical services and refreshments during Wari.
They extend their support to orphanages and old age homes by offering educational and athletic materials, and medicines, and celebrating festivals to cultivate a sense of community and belonging. Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh actively raises public awareness on various critical issues like organ and blood donation, water and environmental conservation, and de-addiction through campaigns and blood donation camps.
Promoting and spreading the knowledge of Ayurveda stands as Sangh’s core mission, aiming to make Ayurvedic practices affordable, accessible, and practical for every community segment. Their endeavours have significantly raised Ayurvedic awareness in educational institutions and rural and urban locales.
Ayurveda, which emerged alongside the planet’s creation by Lord Brahma, is recognised as the original and most ancient health protection science and the precursor to all modern medical systems. It has been safeguarding human health for millennia, making it a critical element of Indian heritage and a vital contribution to global medicine.
Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh commits to advancing this noble science through Ayurvedic promotion, social medical activities, health sector service, Ayurvedic research, innovation in treating incurable diseases, environmental conservation, cultural preservation, fostering active citizenship, community service, and empowering the youth.
During the harrowing Corona crisis, Sangh’s young Ayurvedic doctors bravely provided consistent, free on-the-ground services for 14 months in Pune’s critical DARK RED ZONE (March 26, 2020–May 26, 2021), demonstrating their commitment to public health and safety.
Esteemed doctors and students from diverse medical and Ayurvedic institutions are increasingly contributing to and supporting the vital service work of Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh, reflecting its growing impact and dedication to community health and well-being.
SVS dedicates its services to the underprivileged, fostering a unique bond between society and doctors, with our young physicians committed to preserving this relationship. We serve everyone, regardless of caste, religion, or region, offering a beacon of hope through our medical expertise, and treating everyone equally.
The Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh’s primary mission is to uphold and champion our communal responsibilities, advancing through collective action. In the realm of healthcare, community solidarity is paramount, and with a greater number of like-minded individuals, we broaden our outreach, integrating them into the societal fold to enhance their quality of life. Our organisation prioritises quality over quantity, seeking meaningful engagement with the community rather than mere numbers.
We strive to coordinate with the community, aiming to address their needs beneficially. By immersing ourselves within the community, we endeavour to grasp and address their issues, continuously aspiring to maintain this approach.
Seeing SVS doctors strive to contribute back to society is indeed gratifying.
Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh is currently focused on five key objectives:
We seek your blessings, good wishes, guidance, and collaboration to achieve these objectives across Maharashtra. Having initiated our efforts in Pune, the Swarajya family now extends its reach statewide.
Your support is crucial to our mission.
Confident in your continued blessings, support, kindness, guidance, and assistance, we move forward.
