Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the legendary figure behind the concept of Swarajya, is our source of inspiration. The term “Swarajya” is a Sanskrit word that means “self-rule” or “self-governance.” This idea, also known as “Hindavi Swarajya,” was popularized by Shivaji Maharaj, who founded the Maratha Empire.
In the 17th century, Shivaji Maharaj championed the idea of Swarajya, striving for autonomy and self-rule for his kingdom. He fought for independence from the Mughal Empire and other foreign powers like the British, Dutch, French, and Portuguese, who were trying to control Indian territory.
Shivaji Maharaj’s vision of Swarajya was rooted in noble principles of governance, justice, and the empowerment of people suffering under the harsh rule of contemporary rulers, dictators, and cruel leaders. The concept of “Swarajya” emphasizes individuals and communities governing themselves without external control or interference. It embodies the spirit of self-determination, encouraging people to take charge of their lives, make their own decisions, and determine their destinies. It is a cornerstone of freedom, motivating individuals to pursue their paths toward success.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s incredible journey from humble beginnings to establishing Swarajya is a remarkable source of inspiration for young people everywhere. His courage, leadership, and determination are guiding lights for those striving to overcome obstacles and achieve greatness. His accomplishments in forming Swarajya showcase the power of vision, determination, and leadership.
On April 15, 1645, Shivaji Maharaj and his childhood friends took an oath to establish Swarajya in the Lord Shiva temple at Rohida in the Sahyadri mountain range. They sealed this commitment by offering their blood on the Shivlinga in the temple. As a young man, Shivaji Maharaj began his mission to create a self-governing kingdom, “Swarajya.” He gathered a group of trusted associates called the “Mawlas” and started liberating strategic forts from the control of the Adil Shah and Mughal forces. His early victories, such as capturing Torna Fort in 1646, laid the foundation for his future successes. The importance of self-respect and unwavering faith in Swarajya that began in the 17th century continues to inspire the entire nation today.
Inspired by Shivaji Maharaj’s journey, we have established a Voluntary Organisation of Young Doctors called “Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh.” Our mission is driven by the selfless spirit captured in our motto, “Man Mai rahe ye bhav, Seva hi Bane Swabhav,” which means “Let service become our nature.” On September 17, 2016, on the significant occasion of Marathwada Mukti Sangram Din, we founded this organization to provide free medical services to the poor and needy in the community. We celebrated the establishment with ceremonies honouring Goddess Dhanvantari and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Shivaji Maharaj is our idol and true hero. He has been a role model for many passionate individuals striving to make the world a better place. He has taught us how to be great leaders, how a well-governed state should function, what ethics should be followed, and what the duties of a king or leader should be, even in today’s context.
With endless inspiration from Shivaji Maharaj, our young doctors are engaged in various social activities in the medical field. It is incredibly satisfying to see all the young doctors, members of our Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh, contributing to the betterment of humanity and society. Please keep blessing us as we continue this mission.
By following the example set by Shivaji Maharaj, we aim to embody the principles of self-governance, justice, and empowerment in our work. His legacy teaches us the importance of fighting for what is right and striving to create a better world for everyone. Our organization’s work in the medical field is a tribute to Shivaji Maharaj’s enduring impact. We are committed to serving the community with dedication and compassion, just as he dedicated his life to the cause of Swarajya.
In conclusion, the spirit of Swarajya, as envisioned by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, continues to inspire us. His journey from a determined young man to a legendary leader is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved with vision, courage, and leadership. Our Swarajya Vaidyakiya Sangh is proud to carry forward his legacy, working towards a better, self-reliant society where everyone could grow and thrive.
